Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan launch Trans-Caspian fibre-optic line

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have launched the Trans-Caspian fibre-optic communication line, a 380 km subsea cable linking Aktau and Sumgait across the Caspian seabed. The line has a design capacity of at least 400 Tbit/s and was built by CaspiLink, a joint venture of Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom. It will expand data transmission capacity between Asia and Europe and support the Data Centre Valley being developed in Ekibastuz.
